Reedy is 7-1 against Creekview since February of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Reedy Lions will head out on the road to square off against the Creekview Mustangs at 6:45 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Reedy was handed a ten-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Wakeland 9-7. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Lions as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Malaina Boyst looked comfortable as she tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in May of 2024.
At the plate, Sierra Petersdorf was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. Another player making a difference was Mady Kulp, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Reedy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They are 4-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Creekview had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Highland Park by a score of 5-1 on Tuesday.
Kelis Lee spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up 11 Ks. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single earned run, the first time she has blanked an opponent over her last four contests.
On the hitting side, Sophia Caballero and MacKenzie Martin did most of the damage at the plate: Caballero scored a run while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances, while Martin scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Reedy pushed their record up to 4-9 with the win, which was their third straight at home. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 10.33 hits in those games compared to only 4.9 in the others. As for Creekview, their record is now 11-8.
Reedy came up short against Creekview in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 15-11. Can Reedy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
