After a string of three wins, South Platte's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 59-52 to the Garden County Eagles. The Blue Knights were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 42-37.
Several Blue Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nathan Jacobs, who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine boards. Jacobs is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Conner Evans, who posted eight points in addition to nine boards and four blocks.
Even though they lost, South Platte smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in seven consecutive contests.
Garden County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Wilsie Lobner led the charge by putting up 20 points. Lobner continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last five games he's played. Kole Fornander was another key player, posting 14 points.
South Platte's defeat dropped their record down to 14-10. As for Garden County, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-7.
