The Belfast Lions will venture away from home to square off against the Lawrence Bulldogs at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Belfast has four straight wins, Lawrence has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Belfast came out on top against Mount View on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive ten-run fifth inning. The Lions never let the Mustangs get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. Considering the Lions have won three matches by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Jordyn MacKay made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Katience Parenteau, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, five RBI, and one triple. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 3.3 RBI per game. Gracie Moore was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Belfast was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .400 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Lawrence suffered their closest defeat since May 13, 2024 on Monday. They fell just short of Cony by a score of 6-4.
Belfast pushed their record up to 4-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Lawrence, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.
Belfast came out on top in a nail-biter against Lawrence when the teams last played last Tuesday, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
