Baseball Recap: Spooner's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Spooner won against Northwestern on Tuesday with 12 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Rails beat the Cameron Comets by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 12-2. The result was nothing new for the Rails, who have now won seven matchups by nine runs or more so far this season.

Evan Potaczek was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, AJ Anderson and Jackson Lucius did most of the damage at the plate: Anderson got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Lucius went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those two hits gave Lucius a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Shamari Fahie, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Spooner always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cameron only posted an OBP of .280.

The victory (which was Spooner's fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Cameron, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-10.
