The Plant Panthers entered their tilt with the Alonso Ravens with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. Plant took their game at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 42-6 victory over Alonso. Considering Plant has won seven matchups by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Plant can attribute much of their success to Waltez Clark, who rushed for 84 yards and four touchdowns on only ten carries.
Another reason for the win was Plant's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for nine sacks. It was a group effort, with three picking up two apiece.
Despite the loss, Alonso still got an impressive performance from Joseph Glennon, who rushed for 58 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
Plant's win was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-9 Chamberlain and 1-8 Jefferson (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 25% over those games). As for Alonso, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-3.
Plant does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Alonso will be playing at home against Brandon at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The last three games Brandon has played have been within five points, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
