Basketball Recap: Willis Skates Past New Caney with Ease

Willis won the last time they faced New Caney and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Willis Wildkats simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the New Caney Eagles 74-32. The Wildkats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matches by 20 points or more this season.

Willis' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but SJ Young led the charge by dropping a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. What's more, Young also racked up four blocks, the most he's had since back in December of 2023. Jackson Day was another key player, going 5 of 10 en route to 12 points along with seven boards and six steals.

Willis was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Willis is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.7 points per game. As for New Caney, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-21.

Willis will face off against Conroe at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Willis is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games. As for New Caney, they will take on Caney Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. New Caney is facing Caney Creek at the right time seeing as Caney Creek is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
