Softball Recap: Hampton Bays' Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Hampton Bays came into Monday's matchup having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 10-7 victory over the Shoreham-Wading River Wildcats on Monday. The Baymen's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Emma Grunewald spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits.

At the plate, Hampton Bays got a massive performance out of Maddie Warn, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits Warn has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Louise Brumagin, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Hampton Bays' win bumped their record up to 2-7. As for Shoreham-Wading River, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hampton Bays will head out to take on Bellport at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Shoreham-Wading River, they will venture away from home to challenge Islip at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
