Surry Central is 1-7 against East Surry since August of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Surry Central Golden Eagles will be playing at home against the East Surry Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, Surry Central strolled past Forbush with points to spare, taking the game 48-34.
Meanwhile, East Surry had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.6 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 58-7 victory over North Wilkes. The result was nothing new for East Surry, who have now won four contests by 20 points or more so far this season.
Matthew Edwards had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 185 yards and four touchdowns on only ten carries. Edwards' longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards. Another player making a difference was Will Jones, who threw for 255 yards and two touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes.
Their wins bumped Surry Central to 3-5 and East Surry to 6-2.
Surry Central took a serious blow against East Surry when the teams last played back in October of 2022, falling 55-0. Thankfully for Surry Central, Folger Boaz (who threw for 298 yards and six touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground) won't be suiting up this time.
