Hiram is 7-2 against Woodland since September of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. On Friday, Hiram got the win against Cedartown by a conclusive 37-17. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hornets.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hiram to victory, but perhaps none more so than Amari Lindley, who rushed for 123 yards and one touchdown on only 11 carries. Those 123 rushing yards gave Lindley a new career-high. Another rusher making a difference was Dylan Maina, who rushed for 93 yards and one score on only ten carries.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Hiram was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 325 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Woodland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. The game between the Wildcats and Allatoona didn't end well, with the Wildcats falling 49-35. On the bright side, the 35- point effort marked the Wildcats' highest-scoring contest to date.
The match pitted two dominant backs against one another in Solomon James and Ethan Corpus. Corpus had a great game and rushed for 327 yards and five TDs while picking up 14.9 yards per carry. Meanwhile, James was balling out in the loss, rushing for 210 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 8.1 yards per carry, and also picking up 94 receiving yards and one score.
The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-4. As for Woodland, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.
Friday's matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Maina and James. Maina just won't slow down this season and has run in 4 touchdowns while averaging 93 rushing yards per game. James has been a dominant force too and has run in 6 touchdowns while averaging 112.8 rushing yards per game.
Everything came up roses for Hiram against Woodland when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 49-0 win. Will the Hornets repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
