The Breathitt County Bobcats pushed their score all the way to 72 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of McLean County by a score of 75-72. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Friday (70), Breathitt County still had to take the loss.
Breathitt County lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Austin Sperry, who scored 20 points along with nine assists and eight rebounds. The matchup was Sperry's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Bellamy, who scored 25 points.
Breathitt County has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season. As for McLean County, they pushed their record up to 12-2 with that win, which was their tenth straight at home.
Breathitt County will head out on the road to face off against Perry County Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Perry County Central knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 13 matches -- so hopefully Breathitt County likes a good challenge. As for McLean County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Trinity at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Trinity will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kentucky Rankings (they are ranked 272nd, while McLean County is ranked 61st).
