The Dublin Scioto Irish's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They were the victim of a tough 62-40 defeat at the hands of Canal Winchester. Dublin Scioto has not had much luck with Canal Winchester recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Despite the loss, Dublin Scioto still got an impressive performance from Niah Smedley, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Smedley hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. Lyla Magnussen was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds.
Dublin Scioto's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Canal Winchester, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dublin Scioto won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Granville at 1:30 p.m. on January 27th. Granville presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Dublin Scioto in Ohio (Granville is ranked 68th, while Dublin Scioto is ranked 397th). As for Canal Winchester, they will head out on the road to square off against Westerville North at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
