The Eastern Wayne Warriors and the Farmville Central Jaguars will round out the year against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at. Eastern Wayne is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
Even though Eastern Wayne has not done well against Southern Wayne recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way last Friday. Eastern Wayne breezed by Southern Wayne on the road to the tune of 56-28. Given Eastern Wayne's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while Southern Wayne is ranked 401st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Farmville Central's three-game losing streak came to an end on Wednesday. They came out on top against Northeastern by a score of 59-48.
Jamya Saddler was her usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Those five assists set a new season-high mark for her. Nakevia Phillips was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Eastern Wayne's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-0. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 27.67 points. As for Farmville Central, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Eastern Wayne was able to grind out a solid win over Farmville Central when the teams last played back in February, winning 57-49. The rematch might be a little tougher for Eastern Wayne since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
