Mallard Creek came out on top against West Mecklenburg on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fifth inning. The Mavericks never let the Hawks get on the board and left with a 13-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Mavericks in their matchups with the Hawks: they've now won nine in a row.
Maximus Miller made a splash no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Chambers' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mallard Creek has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .447. It's a different story for Chambers, though, as they've only averaged .364. Will they be able to contain Mallard Creek's hitters?
Everything went Mallard Creek's way against Chambers in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Mallard Creek made off with a 9-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mavericks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
