Spoto is on a five-game streak of home losses (dating back to last season), Freedom a nine-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. The Spoto Spartans will take on the Freedom Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Last Friday, Spoto was the victim of a tough 51-27 loss at the hands of Lennard.
Spoto's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Nathan Richardson, who threw for 251 yards and three touchdowns on only 16 passes, and Z'orey Cotton who picked up 111 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Freedom fell victim to Wharton's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were dealt a 51-0 loss at the hands of the Wildcats. While losing is never fun, Freedom can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 512th, while Wharton is ranked 108th).
The losses dropped Spoto to 1-8 and Freedom to 0-9.
Everything came up roses for Spoto against Freedom in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 as the squad secured a 51-0 win. Does Spoto have another victory up their sleeve, or will Freedom turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
