Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Kennedy Cougars walked away with it. They never let the Lancers onto the board and left with a 2-0 victory on Friday. Two seems to be a good number for Kennedy as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of goals in their previous game.
They were led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Jason Ortiz and
Luis Heredia, who scored both of Kennedy's goals. The pair have combined for a total of nine so far this season.
The victory made it two in a row for Kennedy and bumps their season record up to 7-7-7. As for Grant, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10-6.
Kennedy will head out on the road to take on Marquez at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Kennedy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 483rd, while Marquez is ranked 164th). Grant does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
