The Las Animas Trojans will take on the Florence Huskies at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Las Animas is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.
Las Animas' pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over Hoehne. Considering the Trojans have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Braydon Ortiz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Logan Servaes was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one run. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Damien Baca was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Las Animas always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .512 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Florence couldn't beat Custer County on Wednesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the first inning. The Huskies came up short against the Bobcats, falling 18-8.
Brynnen Lambert made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. He is becoming a predictor of Florence's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is 3-1 (and 3-4 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Shane Harvey, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Las Animas pushed their record up to 11-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Florence, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Las Animas has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .515. However, it's not like Florence struggles in that department as they've averaged .607. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
