The Watkins Memorial Warriors waltzed into their contest on Saturday with two straight wins but they left with three. They escaped with a win against Zanesville by the margin of a single free throw, 32-31. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Watkins Memorial also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Despite the defeat, Zanesville saw an underclassman step up: Ta'myah Taylor scored 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Taylor has scored all season.
The win got Watkins Memorial back to even at 8-8. As for Zanesville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-15.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Watkins Memorial will take on Pickerington North at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Ohio (Pickerington North is ranked 339th, while Watkins Memorial is ranked 341st). As for Zanesville, they will head out on the road to square off against Newark Catholic at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
