The Tolleson Wolverines will challenge the Cesar Chavez Champions at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Tolleson lost 13-3 to Verrado on Monday. The Wolverines have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

03/21/25 @ Alhambra | 1 |
03/01/25 vs Mica Mountain | 1 |
02/26/25 vs Verrado | 1 |
AMARI LUCAS made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cesar Chavez). They never let South Mountain get on the board and left with a 29-0 win on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Champions in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now won nine in a row.
Carlos Leon was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2. He is becoming a predictor of Cesar Chavez's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-5 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cesar Valentin-Rochin, who scored five runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Christian Macklis was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Cesar Chavez always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .814. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Cesar Chavez pushed their record up to 9-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.0 runs over those games. As for Tolleson, their loss dropped their record down to 8-8-1.
Tolleson came out on top in a nail-biter against Cesar Chavez in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 7-6. Will Tolleson repeat their success, or does Cesar Chavez has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
