Basketball Recap: Central's Run of Seven Straight Wins Now Over

It was a good run, but Central unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 51-42 to the Wenonah Dragons. While losing is never fun, the Chargers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 102nd in Georgia, while the Dragons are ranked 30th in Alabama).

Samarian Franklin continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Wenonah, almost dropping a triple-double on 24 points, nine boards, and ten steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Franklin has scored at least a third of Wenonah's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aariyanah Parker, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds.

Central's defeat dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Wenonah, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-3 record this season.

Central will welcome Jefferson County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Wenonah, they will square off against John Carroll Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on January 4, 2025.
