The Panther Creek Catamounts waltzed into their matchup on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They took down Apex Friendship 68-52. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Panther Creek also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Panther Creek had a senior duo take command as Cameron Hunter dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds and Logan Ware scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. Hunter is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja'tez Ward, who scored ten points.
Panther Creek's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.6 points per game. As for Apex Friendship, their loss dropped their record down to 10-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Panther Creek will face off against Holly Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Holly Springs is ranked 69th, while Panther Creek is ranked 70th). As for Apex Friendship, they will head out on the road to take on Pinecrest at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Pinecrest focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 last Wednesday.
