North Fort Myers is on a six-game streak of home losses, the Bulldogs a 24-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. The North Fort Myers Red Knights will take on the Ida Baker Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Thursday, things could have been worse for North Fort Myers, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 82-64 loss to the Eagles. While losing is never fun, North Fort Myers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 545th, while the Eagles are ranked 123rd).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Isaiah Newson, who scored 30 points along with three steals. That was a full 46.9% of North Fort Myers' points, marking the 12th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Alberto Riviera, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Ida Baker came up short against the Panthers on Friday and fell 66-56.
North Fort Myers has not been sharp recently as the team's lost 11 of their last 13 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. As for Ida Baker, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-20.
