In this week's power rankings, we saw one team go soaring up and another team come crashing down, along with everything in between. Among the games was a one-point thriller between Fort Dodge and Southeast Polk.
Welcome
Fort Dodge went from a 28-point stomp in its prior game to a one-point tiptoe in its most recent one last week. It won an extremely close contest against Southeast Polk with a final score of 22 - 21. The result was just as the MaxPreps state rankings suggested, although the scoreline definitely wasn't as one-sided as expected. Thanks to its success, Fort Dodge cracked into the power rankings and now occupies the 17th spot.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of the hottest tickets last week involved the clash between Sergeant Bluff-Luton (5th in the power rankings) and Bishop Heelan Catholic (19th). Sergeant Bluff-Luton came out on top against Bishop Heelan Catholic with a 23 - 9 win. As a result, Sergeant Bluff-Luton rose one spot in the power rankings.
No Stoppin 'Em
After a timid six display the game before, Western Dubuque sure wasn't afraid to show off its offense last week. The final score between it and Wahlert was a 63 - 27 blowout in Western Dubuque's favor. The Wahlert defense has struggled this season (giving up an average of 42 points per game), and Western Dubuque took advantage of that. The combined 90-point effort made this the highest-scoring game in the power rankings for the week.
