Stevensville extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 3-7. They fell 9-4 to the Florence-Carlton Falcons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 two weeks ago.
McCoy Endres made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That double was his first of the season.
As for Florence-Carlton, they pushed their record up to 10-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games.
On Florence-Carlton's side, Jordan Vigil spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. Vigil has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Florence-Carlton let Chase Wagner and Alden Crawford run wild. Wagner went 2-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Crawford got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Crawford a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Wes Potter, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Coming up, Stevensville will take on Frenchtown at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Yellowjackets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Broncs have averaged an impressive 10.3 runs per game this season. As for Florence-Carlton, they will square off against Butte Central Catholic at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Maroons have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
