Toombs County has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Dublin Fighting Irish at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Toombs County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 455th, while Dublin is ranked 160th).
Toombs County suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They fell just short of Brantley County by a score of 42-39. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Toombs County in their matchups with Brantley County: they've now lost eight in a row.
Meanwhile, Dublin came up short against East Laurens on Saturday and fell 49-42. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Dublin has scored all season.
Nahallie Turnley put forth a good effort for the losing side as she dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 17 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ra'nyya Washington, who scored eight points.
Toombs County dropped their record down to 4-11 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Dublin, their loss dropped their record down to 15-5.
Toombs County was dealt a bruising 59-30 loss at the hands of Dublin in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Turnley, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds.
