The Penns Grove Red Devils were the 51-48 winner over the Overbrook Rams when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Penns Grove received a tough blow on Thursday as they fell 53-37 to the Rams. While losing is never fun, Penns Grove can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 296th, while the Rams are ranked 122nd).
When it comes to explaining why Penns Grove lost, one person who can't be blamed is Giomar Conrad. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Willie Slocum was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds and three blocks.
Penns Grove has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. As for Overbrook, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Penns Grove will take on the Braves at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Williamstown is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. As for Overbrook, they will head out on the road to face off against the Chiefs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
