Basketball Recap: Tyler Sykes Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Invest Collegiate Imagine

Glenwood picked up another tournament win on Friday. They blew past the Invest Collegiate Imagine Kingfishers 71-46. Given the Gators' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 116th in Alabama, while the Kingfishers are ranked 430th in North Carolina), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Glenwood to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tyler Sykes, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 boards. With that strong performance, Sykes is now averaging an impressive 8.1 rebounds per game. Jadarian Holloway was another key player, going 6 for 12 on his way to 14 points in addition to six boards and five assists.

Glenwood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in four consecutive matches.

Invest Collegiate Imagine lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Tyson Elliott, who posted 22 points. Those 22 points gave Elliott a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Asa Gura, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.

Glenwood's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Invest Collegiate Imagine, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-2.

Glenwood wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 74-49 win against Berean Christian on the 21st. As for Invest Collegiate Imagine, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 68-42 loss against Pigeon Forge on the 21st.
