The Mullen Broncos scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They strolled past Twin Loup with points to spare, taking the game 51-36. The win was some much needed relief for Mullen as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Mullen found their leader in underclassman Hayley Donohoe, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Georgia Wingebach, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Several Wolves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Madison Glidden, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Glidden has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Cassidy Grint, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Mullen's win bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Twin Loup, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.
Mullen will head out on the road to square off against Medicine Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Medicine Valley is coming into the contest with three straight defeats at home, meaning Mullen will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory. Twin Loup's road trip will continue as they head out to face Burwell on January 30th. Hopefully Burwell focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday.
