Given Crossroads Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 187th, while Lee Christian is ranked 439th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Crossroads Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ben Gladieux, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. Ely Phillips was another key contributor, scoring 18 points.
When it comes to explaining why Lee Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Daniel Rumbold. Despite the final result, he went 6 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 30 points and 3 assists. That was a full 46.9% of Lee Christian's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cayce Schoolcraft, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Crossroads Christian pushed their record up to 15-4 with that win, which was their third straight at home.
