The Ferris Yellowjackets are taking a road trip to challenge the Godley Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Ferris barely beat Hillsboro the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Ferris' pitchers stepped up to hand Hillsboro a 9-0 shutout on Tuesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Gavin Garcia was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while going 1-for-4. He has become a key player for Ferris: the team is 3-0-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-5-2 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ky Creek, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Guzman, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Godley came tearing into Tuesday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Rams 11-1. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.
Like Ferris, Godley also got a great game from a two-way player: Tabor Anderson. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over six innings pitched. Anderson has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Byron McClure was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Braxton Spohn, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Godley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive games.
Ferris' record now sits at 4-5-3. As for Godley, their record now sits at 14-2-1.
