The Hawthorne Hornets came tearing into Monday's contest with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 69-25 win over Trenton. Hawthorne has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 21 points or more this season.
CJ Ingram continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 21 points along with nine steals and six assists. He hasn't dropped below two steals for 11 straight games. Darian Bowie was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with two steals.
Trenton lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Tyler Bullis, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Hawthorne's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.6 points per game. As for Trenton, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-9 record this season.
Hawthorne will be playing in front of their home fans against Chiefland at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Trenton, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Interlachen at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th. Hopefully Interlachen focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Monday.
