1A Conference 6 recap October 22, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in 1A Conference 6 this week, West Montgomery beat North Stanly 44-19. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Warriors.
North Moore lost to Albemarle 55-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
West Montgomery's dynamic duo of Caleb Drake and Suave Pegues proved to be unstoppable against the Comets, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Drake threw for 130 yards and 1 touchdown and Pegues had 50 yards receiving. Tirea Sims helped West Montgomery's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 48 yards.
Kevin McKinney provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Bulldogs topped the Mustangs. McKinney's key target this week was Timmie White, who caught 2 passes for 51 yards.
McKinney was a beast in the backfield as Albemarle topped North Moore.
The leading receiver in the league this season is White. The Albemarle star has 19 catches for 614 yards.
Nick Eddins' team's Pegues needs only 38 yards against South Stanly next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Pegues has rushed for 962 yards on 91 carries so far this year.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when North Stanly takes on Seth Smith's team. At the moment, Ralph Jackson's team is in second, while the Bulldogs are in third.
