Anthem Prep is 0-6 against Mohave Accelerated since March of 2016 but things could change on Friday. The Eagles will take on the Patriots in a tournament on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
If Anthem Prep beats Mohave Accelerated with 20 runs on Friday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. Everything went the Eagles' way against Maryvale Prep on Thursday as they made off with a 20-4 victory. Winning may never get old, but the Eagles sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Grace Stillwell was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Stillwell was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.

Those two stolen bases gave Purvis a new career-high. Grace Brown was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Anthem Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Maryvale Prep only managed eight.
Meanwhile, Mohave Accelerated got themselves on the board against Glendale Prep Academy on Thursday, but Glendale Prep Academy never followed suit. They blew past the Griffins 27-0.
Megan Jones made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Jones was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
In other batting news, Kennedy Lamb and Tanner Banks did most of the damage at the plate: Lamb went 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs, while Banks went 1-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. Another player making a difference was Rayli Marin, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with five runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Mohave Accelerated's win bumped their record up to 15-3. As for Anthem Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 12-3.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Anthem Prep has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.3 hits per game. However, it's not like Mohave Accelerated struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 2.5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Anthem Prep might still be hurting after the 21-3 defeat they got from Mohave Accelerated in their previous matchup back in March of 2023. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
