Basketball Recap: GEO Next Generation Takes a Loss

If GEO Next Generation was riding high fresh off their 54-14 takedown of Abramson last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The GEO Next Generation Tigers had to suffer through a 63-31 loss at the hands of the Liberty Magnet Patriots. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 146th, while the Patriots are ranked fourth).

GEO Next Generation's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anthony Brooks, who posted ten points and seven rebounds. Those ten points gave Brooks a new career-high. Alonzo Knighten was another key player, putting up seven points.

It was another big night for Chivas Lee Jr., who went 5 of 8 on his way to 18 points and four steals for Liberty Magnet. Lee Jr. is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed four or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kingston Jarrell, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 12 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

GEO Next Generation's defeat dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Liberty Magnet, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 9-1.

GEO Next Generation will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Eleanor McMain at 3:20 p.m. on January 1st. GEO Next Generation is facing Eleanor McMain at the right time seeing as Eleanor McMain is stuck on a 12-game losing streak. As for Liberty Magnet, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 70-23 win against Broadmoor on the 27th.
