New Bern was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in 4A/3A Conference 14. The Bears beat Laney 48-9 earlier in the week.
South Central moved up to 172 from 233 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Falcons climbed the ranks as a result of topping Hertford County 49-21.
Rose's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Copeland Spell threw for 106 and 2 touchdowns and Ockwan Hart had 58 yards receiving. On the ground Geoffrey Williams contributed 129 yards.

Smith has thrown for 632 yards this season, while Hart, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 10 catches for 242 yards. New Bern's Mike Hughes leads the league in rushing yards with 391.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Conley takes on Rose. As it stands, the Vikings are in third, while the Rampants are in first.
Rose extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Kinston, 59-7. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Rampants.
