After a string of nine wins, the Bethany Christian Bruins's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. The game between Bethany Christian and Wawasee wasn't particularly close, with Bethany Christian falling 48-32. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Bethany Christian has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Bethany Christian still got an impressive performance from Zoe Willems, who scored 19 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. The game was Willems' tenth in a row with at least ten points.
Wawasee was led to victory by Kaydence Shepherd and Mackenzie Hackleman. Shepherd scored 15 points along with three steals, while Hackleman dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Hackleman is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Olivia Horn was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds.
Bethany Christian's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-1. As for Wawasee, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bethany Christian will be home for the holidays to greet Lakeland Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Lakeland Christian Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 312th, while Bethany Christian is ranked 99th). Wawasee will be home for the holidays to greet Warsaw at 7:45 a.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Warsaw focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday.
