Arlington hasn't had much luck against Glacier Peak recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Eagles will face off against the Grizzlies at 4:00 p.m.
Arlington is headed into Wednesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their tenth straight game dating back to last season on Monday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Lake Stevens. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by just one run.
Arlington saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Camryn Zodrow, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Glacier Peak entered their tilt with Jackson on Tuesday with seven consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with eight. They skirted past the Timberwolves 4-2.
Emma Hirshorn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Lauren Hufford was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Briannica Titus, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Glacier Peak pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Arlington, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Arlington has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Glacier Peak struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Arlington might still be hurting after the 9-2 loss they got from Glacier Peak in their previous matchup back in March of 2019. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
