The Christoval Cougars came tearing into Friday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down Forsan 48-31. Given Christoval's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 296th, while Forsan is ranked 903rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Halle Hughes was her usual excellent self, scoring 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Madyson George, who scored seven points along with four steals.
Christoval has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Forsan, they bumped their record down to 3-7 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.
Christoval will be home for the holidays to greet Eldorado at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Forsan, they will head out on the road to face off against Sterling City at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Sterling City will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
