Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Grant Morrison and Thomas Reed Lead Charleston Collegiate to Victory

On Thursday, the Charleston Collegiate Sundevils beat the Calhoun Academy Cavaliers 59-51.

Charleston Collegiate was led to victory by Thomas Reed and Grant Morrison. Reed went 7 for 11 on his way to 22 points in addition to three steals and three blocks, while Morrison dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 assists. Reed's evening made it ten games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Clayton Smith, who posted eight points.

Calhoun Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Nick Lindsay, who had 14 points and eight rebounds. Lindsay is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. Hunter Thornburg was another key player, going 7 of 17 on his way to 16 points and eight rebounds.

Charleston Collegiate's record now sits at 5-3. As for Calhoun Academy, their record is now 4-2.

Charleston Collegiate will be playing in front of their home fans against St. John's at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Calhoun Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 71-51 win against Dorchester Academy on the 13th.
