Softball Recap: Mendon Extends Home Winning Streak to 11

Mendon hadn't done well against Kalamazoo Christian recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Hornets were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Comets. Considering the Hornets have won 19 contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Cienna Nightingale was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Gracie Schultz, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base.

Mendon's win was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Kalamazoo Christian, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 21-9.

Mendon and Kalamazoo Christian should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings. The Hornets (ranked 68th) will meet North Adams-Jerome (ranked 429th) at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Kalamazoo Christian will face off against Gull Lake at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (97 vs. 296).
