Parkside is 2-7 against Kent Island since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Parkside Rams will be staying on the road to face off against the Kent Island Buccaneers at 6:00 p.m. on November 3rd.
Last Friday, Parkside was beaten by Decatur 50-14. While losing is never fun, Parkside can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland football rankings (they are ranked 154th, while Decatur is ranked 29th).
Parkside's defeat came about despite a quality game from Canaan Mapp, who rushed for 54 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Kent Island can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They claimed a resounding 30-0 victory over Queen Anne's County on the road.
Kent Island's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shane Bogardus, who rushed for 119 yards and a touchdown.
Decatur's victory bumped their season record to 9-0 while Parkside's defeat dropped theirs to 3-6.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's matchup: Parkside has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 177.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Kent Island struggles in that department as they've been even better at 226.2 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Parkside suffered a grim 43-20 defeat to Kent Island in their previous meeting back in September. Can Parkside avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
