The Picayune Maroon Tide will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Poplarville Hornets at 6:00 p.m.
On Tuesday, Picayune came up short against Pass Christian and fell 49-42.
Meanwhile, Poplarville didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Pearl River Central on Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 41-36 win. The win made it back-to-back wins for Poplarville.
Poplarville can attribute much of their success to Janiyah Jones, who scored 14 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which Jones has scored at least 25% of Poplarville's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tameah Bester, who scored 7 points.
Picayune's victory lifted them to 4-6 while Pass Christian's defeat dropped them down to 2-7.
Picayune couldn't quite finish off Poplarville in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 and fell 34-32. Will Picayune have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other basketball content.
