The Paris Coyotes will challenge the Silex Owls at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Paris has given up an average of 7.9 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Paris is headed into Wednesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Friday. They lost 13-1 to North Shelby.
Meanwhile, while Silex put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Wellsville-Middletown. The Owls blew past the Tigers 15-0. The result was nothing new for the Owls, who have now won six games by nine runs or more so far this season.
Chase Vehige and Joe Dameron made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Vehige struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Dameron pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the most strikeouts Vehige has posted since back in March. At bat, Vehige got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Dameron got on base in both of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Dameron has become a key player for Silex: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 4-5 otherwise.
In other batting news, Silex got a big performance out of Jack Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Johnson is becoming a predictor of the Owls' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-5 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Beagle, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Silex always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Silex is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Paris, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.
Paris couldn't quite finish off Silex in their previous meeting back in May of 2021 and fell 6-4. Will the Coyotes have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
