While losing is never fun, Joaquin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1242nd, while Elysian Fields is ranked 576th).
Elysian Fields' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nunu Kennedy led the charge by scoring 14 points along with 6 steals and 5 assists. That makes it two consecutive games in which Kennedy has scored at least 25% of Elysian Fields' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Travis Stephens, who scored 16 points along with 5 rebounds and 5 steals.
Joaquin has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Elysian Fields, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.
Joaquin will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Winona at 2:00 p.m. on December 8th. As for Elysian Fields, they will square off against Claiborne Academy at 4:45 p.m. on Friday.
