Baseball Game Preview: Armstrong River Hawks vs. Kiski Area Cavaliers

For the second straight game, Armstrong will face off against Kiski Area. The River Hawks will be playing at home against the Cavaliers at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.

Armstrong was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Kiski Area on Monday. The River Hawks blew past the Cavaliers 8-2. The result was nothing new for the River Hawks, who have now won four matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Carson Delano made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, Hunter Reed was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Josh Fester, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Armstrong was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kiski Area only posted a batting average of .158.

Armstrong has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Kiski Area, they dropped their record down to 1-8 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Kiski Area's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Armstrong hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .350.
