After losing to Lakewood the last time they met, Waverly decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Warriors put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp  8-2 victory on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won six matches by six  runs or more  so far this season.
 Jackson Gomez made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he  struck out 12 batters over  seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off   three  hits. Those  12  strikeouts gave  him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate,  going 3-for-4 with two  doubles, one  run,  and one  RBI.
 In other batting news, Waverly got a big performance out of  Iggy Arroyo, who  went 1-for-4 with one  stolen base, two  RBI,  and one  run.  Tre Combs was another key player,  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances with three  runs.
Waverly's win bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Lakewood, they moved to 10-8 with that  loss, which also ended their six-game winning streak.
 Coming up, Waverly will head out to  take on Eaton Rapids  at 4:00  p.m.  on Thursday. As for Lakewood, they will face off against Lansing Catholic at 4:00  p.m.  on Tuesday.
