Viewmont is 2-7 against Davis since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. Viewmont will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they takes on Davis at 3:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, Viewmont put up the most points they have all season on Tuesday. They blew past Woods Cross 15-8. The win continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won seven in a row.
London Dickerson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and four unearned) runs off nine hits. Dickerson was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ricki Smith, who fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. What's more, she posted three hits, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Karli Dickerson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
Viewmont kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Davis suffered their biggest loss since March 19, 2024 on Tuesday. They lost 17-10 to Pleasant Grove. Even though they lost, the Darts' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.1 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
Norah Sunderland made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-5 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jewel Korth, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI and one double.
Davis now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Viewmont, their victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-5.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Viewmont hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.1 home runs per game. However, it's not like Davis struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Viewmont skirted past Davis 10-9 in their previous meeting back in March of 2022. Does Viewmont have another victory up their sleeve, or will Davis turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
