Shelbyville Central has gone 6-1 against Columbia Central recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Golden Eagles will head out to square off against the Lions at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Shelbyville Central has eight straight victories, Columbia Central has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Friday, Shelbyville Central was able to grind out a solid win over Central Magnet, taking the game 9-5.
Brody Lovvorn was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on William Bobo, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. He has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last nine times he's played. Caden Duggin was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Columbia Central came up short against Loretto on Friday and fell 8-5.
Aiden Saum made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Jack Beck, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Shelbyville Central pushed their record up to 18-5 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Columbia Central, their loss dropped their record down to 11-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Shelbyville Central has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Columbia Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Shelbyville Central beat Columbia Central 7-4 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Golden Eagles repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
