Baseball Recap: McLoud Comes Up Short

McLoud dropped their record down to 9-13 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 10-0 to the Harrah Panthers. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Redskins' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Harrah, their record is now 15-12. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by seven runs or more this season.

For Harrah's part, Joey Mclaughlin made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. Mclaughlin also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Harrah is 6-2 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 9-10 otherwise. Mclaughlin was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Cash Flint was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Harrah's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 10-12 when he doesn't). Cal Whitnah was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. McLoud is set to take on their familiar foe Tecumseh at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Harrah will face off against rival Byng at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
