Dunbar is 9-1 against McKinley Tech since January of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Dunbar Crimson Tide will head out on the road to challenge the McKinley Tech Trainers at 5:30 p.m.
Last Monday, Dunbar faced Archbishop Carroll in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Dunbar had to suffer through a rough 74-33 loss at the hands of Archbishop Carroll. Dunbar was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-15.
McKinley Tech posted their closest victory yet this season on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against School Without Walls and snuck past 40-38. The victory was just what McKinley Tech needed coming off of a 59-34 defeat in their prior matchup.
Leria Amah and Jemima Bomoyi were among the main playmakers for McKinley Tech as the former dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds and the latter scored 12 points along with nine steals. Amah continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Chiagoziem Njoku, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Dunbar's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for McKinley Tech, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Dunbar came up short against McKinley Tech when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 40-30. Thankfully for Dunbar, Natasha Doe (who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and four steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
