Cranston East is 9-1 against Davies Career & Tech since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Thunderbolts will head out on the road to face off against the Patriots at 4:00 p.m. Cranston East is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.6 runs per game this season.
Cranston East fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Tiverton on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 6-5. The Thunderbolts' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Lexi Montalban put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over ten innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off ten hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Nevaeh Fatorma made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple was her first of the season.
Meanwhile, Davies Career & Tech had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Monday. Everything went their way against the Eagles as they made off with an 18-0 victory. Considering the Patriots have won three games by more than 13 runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Cranston East, Davies Career & Tech also got a great game from a two-way player: Gabriella Fisher. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Fisher was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Darelyn Maldonado was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Madison Blanchette, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Davies Career & Tech always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .786. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Cranston East's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 5-2. As for Davies Career & Tech, their record now sits at an identical 5-2.
Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Cranston East has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .509. However, it's not like Davies Career & Tech struggles in that department as they've averaged .551. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Cranston East beat Davies Career & Tech 5-2 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Thunderbolts since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
